Fateh Nagar: Travelling on the wrong route is a problem in the city, but the problem at the Fateh Nagar flyover has become gigantic. There is not a single motorist who takes the right route. The problem stems from the construction design. Motorists are supposed to take a left turn and then proceed further, but this entails a long route and owing to heavy traffic, it takes close to 30 minutes. So, they take a right turn, leading to accidents.

In a bid to save time, people risk their lives. Nishanth Reddy, who works at a plastic shop near the flyover, said that the problem has been there for over a decade. There are sign boards, but no one has time to look at them and follow. Hundreds of accidents took place here till today. People coming from Balanagar use Fateh Nagar flyover and they will have to take a U-turn and take flyover from left again to get down. They have to take a U-turn to reach under the flyover, as there are many industries, plastic shops, car service centers and 300 houses that nearly take 30 minutes because of the traffic. So, people take shortcut and violate the traffic rule and come in opposite direction.

Recently, at the time of road construction, a truck turned upside down because it was coming from opposite direction, and the driver got seriously injured. Moreover, there is no traffic police, no cameras on the road. Motorists, autos and small trucks also pass through this wrong route. There are three iron workshops and fifteen plastic shops, and all the trucks come in the wrong route. B Manikanta, a resident of Sanath Nagar, said that the traffic police department should come up with a solution for the decade-old problem.
