Quthbullapur: A Congress party leader from Surararam division, Ayesha Begum, along with her 150 followers, joined the TRS under the leadership of Shaheda Begum, a ward member of Sanjaygandhi Nagar, in the presence of the ruling party candidate K P Vivekanand and local corporator Mantri Satyanarayana. Among those who joined TRS were Md Zianuddin, Shakeel Khan, Tajuddin, Md Khaleel. Those present included ward members Siddique, Aruna, Savitri, TRS leaders Madhu, Lakshman, Raju, Vijay, Feroze and Venkatesh.
Addressing the newcomers to the party, Vivekanand claimed that the TRS government had given the right recognition to the minorities after assuming office. It has stood by them, talking up welfare schemes like ‘Shadi Mubarak’. He assured the minorities that he would always extend them assistance/cooperation, while appealing for their efforts in campaigning with the sole objective of ensuring a big majority for the pink party.
In a related development, about 300 activists of the Congress Party, including senior leader Venkatesh Goud, switched over their loyalties to the TRS bandwagon, attracted by the State government’s development policies, at the residence of Vivekanand. Former corporator Suresh Reddy led the newcomers into the party fold. Vivekanand assured them that he would always support both the leaders and activists, while advising them to take the TRS government’s welfare schemes to the people’s notice. The TRS candidate stressed that they should convey the message that everyone in society was getting the benefit of the welfare schemes at their doorsteps, while working for the party’s success in the elections slated for December 7. Among those present were TRS leaders Manne Raju, Padma, Inna Reddy and Shivaji.
