KCR sets March 31 deadline for Bhagiratha water

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao set March 31, 2019 as the new deadline for the supply of potable drinking water to every household under Mission Bhagiratha scheme. The Chief Minister also fixed the deadline to supply water to all habitations as January 10. He instructed the officials to complete the installation of tap connections before the deadline.
K Chandrashekar Rao held a detailed review on progress of the works under the mission with top officials attended by Advisor to Government Anurag Sharma, CMO Secretary Smita Sabharwal and MLAs V Prashanth Reddy and Jogu Ramanna. The Chief Minister desired that from April 1 not even a single person anywhere in the State should be seen carrying a water pot or a vessel for fetching water from other areas.
The Chief Minister made it clear that his government is ready to spend any amount of money to complete Mission Bhagiratha and ensure potable water reaches each and every habitation irrespective of whether it is in hilly, forest or remote areas. The officials informed the Chief Minister that out of a total of 23,968 habitations the bulk supply reached through the Mission to 23,947 habitations.
It is only 21 villages that are yet to get bulk supply. They told the Chief Minister that these are either in hilly areas or forests or remote areas. They also informed that tap connections have been provided to 95 per cent of households and also the construction of OHSR (Over Head Service Reservoirs) are on fast track.
K Chandrashekar Rao said that villages in Achampet, Sirpur, Adilabad, Nirmal, Asifabad, Kothagudem, each and every remote area habitation, habitations in hillock areas, water shall reach through Mission Bhagiratha notwithstanding the financial burden that is to be incurred. “The responsibility of the government does not cease with merely reaching the bulk water to the villages and supply at the door step to every house.
Government should also ensure regular supply of water without any interruption and hurdles,” he added.He asserted supplying water continuously without any interruption as important as completing the Mission Bhagiratha project. Strategy had to be drawn to see that every day water is supplied uninterruptedly.
Many other States are also adopting and replicating this scheme, the Chief Minister said that they are also seeking cooperation from Telangana government. “We have also conveyed our preparedness and consent to extend necessary cooperation to those States who would like to replicate Mission Bhagiratha which has become not only a pride to Telangana but also a role model to the country,” KCR said.
