Hyderabad: Accompanied by his closely-knit family members, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao will go on a national tour beginning on Sunday from Visakhapatnam in AP primarily to test the waters for creation of Federal Front to serve as an alternative to BJP and Congress at the national level.

On Sunday, he will visit Sharada Peetham in Visakhapatnam and pay obeisance to Swamy Swaroopananda Saraswathi. He will stay in the Ashramam for three to four hours and will have lunch before flying to Odisha in the afternoon. KCR will also visit Konark temple after a one-on-one with Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

During his visit to West Bengal the next day on December 24, KCR will meet his counterpart Mamata Banerjee at Kolkata and then will visit Kali Ghat mandir. The Telangana Chief Minister and his family members would then leave for Delhi where he is expected to meet Prime minister Narendra Modi on December 25 or 26 which would be a courtesy call after assuming CM’s office for the second consecutive term.

Official source said that the Telangana chief minister wanted to take up the first round of visit to the states where the regional parties are ruling before the election notification for Lok Sabha is issued. Tentatively, the Election Commission is planning to issue notification in February.

After meeting Modi in the national capital, KCR is also planning to call on Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav and BSP leader Mayawati and invite them to join the proposed Federal Front. Based on the outcome of his meeting with different party leaders, the TRS supremo will finalise his next course of action.
