TRS working president K T Rama Rao on Wednesday urged the party workers to aim at winning 16 Lok Sabha seats in this New Year He said the Opposition is losing confidence
Hyderabad: TRS working president K T Rama Rao on Wednesday urged the party workers to aim at winning 16 Lok Sabha seats in this New Year. He said the Opposition is losing confidence.
Speaking to a meeting of TRS leaders and activists from Sanathnagar constituency in Hyderabad, Rama Rao said Congress had lost confidence of people and the BJP had lost deposits in 100 seats. The TDP was washed out in the State. In this scenario, leaders should aim at strengthening the party, said Rao.
The TRS leader said in the past, the parties which had gone for early elections had to face anger of the people but Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao created a history. “Within a few hours of dissolving the Assembly, the Chief Minister created sensation by announcing candidates for 105 seats.
The TRS winning for second time is a record in the country. People of the State strongly believed that Bangaru Telangana is possible only if KCR remained in power,” said Rama Rao. Even after TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu campaigned in the State, people had clearly asserted that their leader was KCR, he added. Rama Rao said the percentage of vote share for TRS has gone up by 14 per cent compared to the last election. He said out of the 29 seats in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, the TRS has won 25 seats along with AIMIM. It was the repeat of the GHMC elections, he pointed out.
Stating that T Srinivas Yadav was people’s man, Rama Rao said that he should have won with a majority of 65,000 to 75,000. “It is painful for me individually because his majority was not high. But this was because of votes missing. The TRS activists have responsibility of taking up enrolment drive on a large scale and they can continue the drive till January 25, he added.
Lashing out at the Opposition parties, Rama Rao said the Mahakutami leaders had lost their mental balance. It is not the EVMs but their brains that are tampered with, he said. Stating that Chandrababu Naidu was cursing the TRS, Rama Rao said that they would turn out to be blessings for Telangana State.
Rama Rao said the leaders who worked hard for the party would be rewarded with nominated posts, he promised. The workers who were away from the party during the elections should be brought into the party and the workers should strive for ensuring that the party’s performance in the Assembly elections is repeated. “If we win 16 seats, we will get the funds from the Centre. He quoted late Telangana ideologue K Jayashankar as having said that the State should get its due not by begging but by dictating. TRS should win 16 out of the total 17 Lok Sabha seats, excluding Hyderabad represented by TRS's ally AIMIM, he said.
He said Telangana is showing the path today. "Elders used to say earlier. What Bengal does today, what Bengal thinks today, India will think tomorrow... But today, the same Bengal is saying what Telangana does today, entire India will follow tomorrow," he said. "If such a situation has come, the reason for it is our leader KCR's efficiency, vision and farsightedness," Rama Rao said.
