Darur: Pre-poll weather is turning hot in villages under the mandal as the notification for Panchayat elections was released on Tuesday. Elections will be conducted on January 25 in 32 villages and 274 wards in the mandal. Aspirants who are planning to contest for Sarpanch, Upa Sarpanch and ward members have intensified their efforts to get tickets. Villages are all in the grip of election fever. All political party leaders have started organising meetings with party activists to select candidates to contest the elections. Leaders are facing tough time in pacifying dissidents in their parties. Apart from Sarpanch post, there will be tough fight among ward members for Upa Sarpanch.

Youth are showing interest to contest the local body elections. Those candidates whose candidacy has been cleared by their parties are leaving no stone unturned to get the support of voters. Efforts are underway to elect unanimous Sarpanch and Upa Sarpanch in small villages. Discussions are going on to elect unanimous Sarpanch to get government’s incentive. It is learned that a few leaders have kept vigil to grab unanimous Sarpanch and Upa Sarpanch posts at any cost.
