Secunderabad: Akhila Bharateeya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) held its 64th national convention in Ahmedabad, Gujarath from December 27 to 30. National president of ABVP Dr S Subbaiah and national general secretary Ashish Chouhan inaugurated the convention after hoisting the ABVP flag. ISRO former chairman Padmabhushan, SN Kiran Kumar, Gujarat chief minister Vijay Bhai Rupani participated as chief guests. ABVP Secunderabad district convener Jeevan Kumar who participated in the national convention provided details at a press conference held here on Friday.

A total of 3,743 ABVP activists participated from various states across the nation, of which 766 are students and 258 are from teaching community. The venue on the banks of Sabarmathi River was named after the noted scientist Dr Vikram Sarabhai. As part of the programme, Telangana state committee was elected at the convention. Dr Prasad was elected as president of Telangana state committee and Ambala Kiran was elected as general secretary of the state committee. Similarly, committees for various states of India were elected at the convention. About 4,000 activists were given various responsibilities of the organisation. Among those who were present at the press meet include ABVP activists Mahender, Shyam, Brahma, Anil, Sandeep, Devi Singh and others.
