Hyderabad: The Healthcare Reforms Doctors Association (HRDA) on Wednesday stated that the teaching hospitals were facing faculty deficit of around 800 assistant professors due to delayed and failed recruitment by TSPSC. The HRDA demanded that the government immediately constitute Medical and Health Service Recruitment Board for recruiting assistant professors in all teaching hospitals.

The HRDA delegation submitted a memorandum to Principal Secretary to Health A Shanti Kumari on Wednesday. The HRDA president K Mahesh Kumar brought to the notice of the Principal Secretary that there was a shortage of 800 assistant professors because of failed recruitment by the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC). He also said that there was a deficit of around 500 civil assistant surgeons.

Mahesh Kumar said that in the interest of students’ and rural people, the government should immediately constitute ‘Medical and Health Services Recruitment Board’ and also avert the contract recruitment. The delegation urged the Principal Secretary to immediately constitute the board and issue notification for the vacant assistant posts other than 274 posts recruitment through TSPSC as it takes time for completion of procedure or transfer of file.

The HRDA also requested the government to appoint member of medical profession as commissioner of Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad as per the Andhra Pradesh Vaidya Vidhana Parishad Act 1985 (Telangana Adoption Order) 2015. The HRDA president said that the commissioner should be a reputed member of the medical profession with proven administrative ability appointed by the government.

However, as per the GO 604, K Manicka Raj was appointed, who is from non-medical profession which is against the Act. The HRDA urged the government to cancel the GO 604 and immediately appoint a commissioner from medical profession.
