Suryapet: The husband of a local ward member contestant from 9th ward of Jagireddygudem village in Suryapet district, who had lost in the recently-held second phase gram panchayat polls, was seen going door-to-door asking the villagers to return his money which he had given them to vote in favour of his wife’s candidature.

The video of the said person Uppu Prabhakar, husband of Uppu Haimavati, has been going viral on WhatsApp. When The Hans India tried to find out what has happened, it is revealed that Prabhakar had given Rs 500-700 to each household in the village asking them to repay it in the form of vote in favour of his wife’s candidature.

However, to their bad luck, Haimavati lost the election and could secure only 24 votes. Realising that the villagers had deceived him, Prabhakar had started demanding the villagers to return his money as they had not voted for him.
