Musheerabad: The Telangana Government has sanctioned considerable funds for Gandhi Hospital and has also developed its medical infrastructure, but the hospital has fallen short badly of cleanliness. Madhav K, an attendee and resident of Gowliguda, said, “Gandhi Hospital has the best doctors, but the place reeks of filth. There is an urgent need to improve the surroundings.
Open dustbins with trash filled up to the rims are placed at random spots in the corridors. Washrooms with water stagnation are a common sight here. The families of the patients eat and litter on the floor in the hall due to lack of waiting areas for them. There is no provision for dustbins between the buildings, as a result which, the corners of the passing roads are littered. Nearly all staircases and walls are filled with dirt marks.
Since its last renovation in 2017, the conditions of most wards and halls seem to have turned dirty and unhygienic. The cleaning staff claims that they clean only selected parts of the premises. Health sector of Telangana has got the highest funding from the KCR government this fiscal year. It has been increased from Rs 6,000 to 7,375 crores. “The emergency ward has 60 beds, but it has no proper sanitation,” said Vimla, a patient.
