Basthi people demand 2BHK houses

Hastinapuram: Corporator Ramavath Padma Srinu Naik received a memorandum from the residents of Nandanavanam Basthi here on Tuesday. They said that they were evacuated to make-shift sheds last year on the pretext of construction of 2BHK houses. “We have been living in huts as the works have not been started,” the residents lamented. They added that they were facing it hard to pay rents as they were daily labourers.

They requested the corporator to take an initiative in starting the construction works. The drinking water pipeline has become a major hurdle to start the construction, said Padma, after lending them a patient ear. She informed that she recently took the issue to the notice of GHMC Commissioner M Dana Kishore.
