Erragadda: Suprajatha-2019, an awareness programme for pregnant women, which is being held from last Monday here at Dr BR KR Government Ayurvedic College with a theme of ‘Easy deliveries-safe deliveries’ here, ended on a grand note on Sunday with a mass baby shower celebration.

On the occasion, about 80 pregnant women were felicitated with ‘cheera-sare’. Pregnant women who are in 5-9 months gestation period were felicitated, showering them with a lot affection and love. Speaking on the occasion, Head of Gynecology department Dr C Ravinder said that such celebrations would help in healthy growth of fetus. Director of Ayush department Dr A Varshini said that doctors need to focus more on pregnancy planning and post-delivery healthcare. Steps are being taken to provide KCR kits to women even at Ayurvedic hospitals, she said. Dr Anuradha, manager of the ayurvedic college, spoke about the importance of intake of nutritious foods for easy and safe deliveries. Chief guest of the program Subhadra, Child development project officer, said that the organization would conduct awareness programs to women on yoga, Ayurveda, and necessary medical tips with the help of anganwadi volunteers and ICDS members.

Among those who were present on the occasion include DTL in-charge director Dr Vijayalakshmi, Dr Yashodha, Dr Sujatha, Dr Sunitha Joshi, Dr Lakshmi, Dr Aruna Gayathri, Swaroopa and others. Baby shower programme was conducted by PG scholars of gynecology department Dr Gauthami, Kanaka Durga, Abhinandana, Himabindu, Priyanka and others.
