Gachibowli: A high-security alarm system that raises an alarm when an unauthorized person enters a building space developed by ITI students and led by Md Salik was the talking point at the Azad Tek Fest 2019 held at the Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) here on Wednesday. There are several innovations on display. All the innovations are from the students of ITI and Polytechnic.
The two-day Annual Azad Tek Fest 2019 that concludes on Thursday is being organised in connection with National Urdu Science Congress.
Speaking to The Hans India, Salik said, “Motion detectors called Passive Infrared (PIR) Sensors have been attached in it and the system is really effective.” What is even more fascinating is the high-security alarm was designed by using an old keypad mobile phone.
Another one that caught the attention of visitors was The Smart Bungalow which consists of a three-staged security system, manual security, IR security system and a touch-less door alarm, along with a mosquito repellant fan developed by Md Ahzaab Ali and his team.
A Pocket PC was presented by polytechnic students, wherein the palm-sized computer screen could be accessed both with a keyboard and a mouse and a stylus as it is touch-friendly. The students developed the product by spending just Rs 5,000.
Another noteworthy innovation is ‘Smart Parking System’ which can mainly be used in apartments these days. The parking system has sensors which work only when specific cars enter the gates, leaving no way in for the gate crashers. A ‘Hydraulic Traffic Reduce System’ was devised by the students of Polytechnic who demonstrated ingeniously how traffic could be managed. They demonstrated through their model that when traffic density increases or in case of an emergency, the footpath can be brought to the road level through a hydraulic press and used as an extra lane.
“The two-day annual tech-symposium organised by the students and faculty of Botany, Industrial Training Institute (ITI) and Polytechnic to share their innovative ideas and to inspire,” says Dr Md Yousuf Khan, principal, Polytechnic and coordinator of the event.
Abid Abdul Wasay, the PRO of MANUU said, “The main focus of us is to aid our students to explore their talents and skills, especially those specializing in the field of Science and Technology with Urdu Medium courses. It’s the brainchild of students and their steady efforts that made this event a success.”
Dr Qazi Siraj Azhar, an Associate Professor at Michigan University, USA and Dr Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz, Vice Chancellor, MANUU were present.
