Major facelift for many parks on the cards

Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC)Commissioner M Dana Kishore on Thursday instructed officials to beautify Gun Park opposite to the State Assembly.
At a review meeting with bio-diversity department, Dana instructed officials to beautify 20 main junctions and medians with seasonal flowers under GHMC limits. There are 153 roads with central medians in an area of 236 km, out of which medians in 100 km should be beautified, the Commissioner ordered. He said that there were 873 landscape parks, 331 tree parks and 616 parks in vacant places which were suitable for plantation.
The Commissioner instructed the officials to develop Indira Park, Rock Garden in Jubilee Hills in a modern way. Dana Kishore said that they were observing every Friday as Green day. The Zonal Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners should visit parks under their jurisdiction and interact with the representatives of various colony associations on every Friday. He said that GHMC has been growing 60 lakh plants in 56 nurseries under Haritha Haram programme. This time the State government fixed the target of three crore plants under the programme. He instructed the officials to implement plant saplings drivestrictly at 331 tree parks in the city.
GHMC Additional Commissioners DasariHarichandana, Amrapali Kata, Krishna, Zonal Commissioners Shankariah and Srinivas Reddy and officials from bio-diversity department were present.
