KTR, Harish to compete on winning margins for TRS

Hyderabad: Entering a new arena in the perceived race for supremacy in Telangana Rashtra Samiti, its working president KT Rama Rao and party senior leader T Harish Rao will now compete in securing victory for the party with highest ever majority in each of the Lok Sabha segments under their purview in the upcoming General Election.

This became evident from Harish’s assertion at his Medak Lok Sabha segment level party meeting on Friday, attended by KTR, that he targeted to win the seat by over 5 lakh vote majority. Apart from reflecting his supreme confidence, Harish’s statement sent a strong message that he is geared to show his political acumen once again.

He won the Siddipet seat by securing a substantial majority of 1.19 lakh votes in the just-concluded Assembly elections in the T state. Harish also played a key role in the crushing defeat of Congress senior leaders A Revanth Reddy, DK Aruna and others in Mahabubnagar district in the Assembly elections.

KTR also displayed his leadership qualities in winning for TRS all the seats in GHMC and other parts of the state. KTR was assigned to look after the TRS affairs in Greater Hyderabad and parts of Karimangar, Nizamabad and Nalgonda in the Assembly poll. KTR targets to win 16 MP seats, out of 17, each by more than 2 lakh majority.

In the first meeting of the Karimangar Lok Sabha segment, which covers the TRS working president’s Siricilla Assembly segment also, KTR instructed his party cadre to work hard and ensure that the TRS candidate wins the seat by more than 4 lakh votes. Leaders said that KTR and Harish would play a key role in the victory of TRS in the Lok Sabha election also.

Participating the meeting, KTR said that TRS leaders would now compete with one another in maximizing the winning margin for TRS in their respective constituencies, instead of just competing with Congress or BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He challenged the TRS leadership of Medak Parliamentary constituency to show its strength by winning with a majority that is larger than the one recorded in Karimnagar Parliamentary constituency.

Even if Congress and BJP come together, they will not form the government at the Centre, the TRS leader said. Leaders at the Centre were always concerned about developing their native states and never bothered about Telangana. The time has come for Telangana to prove its mettle at the Centre, he asserted.
