United Andhra agitation takes serious turn

Bandh paralyses normal life; Traffic comes to standstill

Vizianagaram: The agitation for united AP took a serious turn all over the district. The activists blocked the highways. Traffic was disrupted. Bandh was observed at the district headquarters paralysing normal life.

As the NGOs blocked the national highway, transport from the town to other centres came to a halt. Protesters stopped vehicles at Y Junction between Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam. The Parvathipuram-Vizianagaram national highway was also blocked by Municipal employees.

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) activists blocked the Srikakulam-Vizianagaram highway. All the routes to Vizianagaram were thus closed. There was traffic jam up to 10 km on all the routes. Vehicle drivers faced a lot of inconveniences.

Congress party workers worshipped Pydi Thalli Ammavaru urging her to bring about a change in the heart of their elders in the Union. They broke 5,000 coconuts. They said that they broke the coconuts to bring about a change in Telangana and Congress party leaders.

Special pujas were organised for Anjaneya Swamy at Railway over-bridge by TDP leaders. They prepared prasadam and distributed. They prayed for change of heart among the Congress leaders. Co-operative Bank staff took out a huge rally.

Members of Painters’ Association burnt the effigies of Sonia Gandhi and KCR. The district is boiling with agitations. Students organised rasta roko at Parvathipuram. Traffic was stopped for three hours between Odisha and Andhra. Auto drivers took out rally with their autos and Congress activists took out rally with motorcycles. On the whole, 20 days of agitation for Samaikyandhra went off on a high note.
