Body bags mystery solved, accused held

Visakhapatnam: The Government Railway Police (GRP) solved the mystery of body bags which were found at the railway station on July 16 last year by arresting the accused. Body parts of a middle-aged man were stuffed in two bags and found on Platform No. 5. The policed said it was another case of extramarital affair which led to the death of the man. Superintendent of Police, GRP, Vijayawada, Ch. Syam Prasad, said on July 16, 2012, porters at Vizag Railway Station recovered two bags containing the parts of a man on the railway track. The body was chopped into 11 parts and stuffed into the two bags. Based on the wedding ring found on the body and missing persons' data list in the State from July 12 to 20, they identified the deceased as J Ramakrishna (30), unmarried and employed in Animal Husbandry Department, Achanta, West Godavari district. Ramakrishna developed illicit relationship with a widow with two daughters, who were residing near the Veterinary Hospital in the village. K Ramesh (25), a native of D Savaram village under Rajol police station limits in East Godavari district, who sells pork, married the elder daughter of the widow. Ramesh was perturbed when he came to know that Ramakrishna had an affair with his wife and mother-in-law and decided to kill him. He invited Ramakrishna for lunch on July 15 at his in-laws' house and after having lunch, both went to a place for consuming alcohol. The duo consumed spirit in an isolated place, after which Ramakrishna lost consciousness. Ramesh killed Ramakrishna by chopping his neck with a sharp weapon and cut the body into 11 parts. He then stuffed the pieces in two bags and boarded Falaknuma Express at Tadepalligudem in West Godavari. After arriving in Visakhapatnam Railway Station, he dumped the bags there and fled to his home town by road. DSP of GRP, Vizag, V Bheema Rao, said that based on the body parts of the man they initially suspected that the deceased belonged to Odisha, but the gold ring helped them to identify the victim easily. He said their teams visited the home town of the deceased and gathered details of his friends and rivals. During the investigation, they concluded that Ramesh killed Ramakrishna due to sexual jealousy, he added. Police arrested Ramesh and will produce him in the court on Wednesday.
