Warangal: Shruti Ojha, an IAS officer of 2013 Batch, was on Sunday sworn in as the Commissioner of Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC).

After taking charge, she interacted with Assistant Commissioner Shahid Masood, who has been acting as the in-charge Commissioner.
It may be noted here that Commissioner post has been vacant since Sarfaraz Ahmed was elevated to the post of Karimnagar district collector.

“Warangal the largest city after Hyderabad which is going to be one of the Smart Cities in the country, needs a complete makeover especially in the improvement of sanitation and sewage handling,” Ojha said, stating that administration’s emphasis will be on to turn the tri-cities of Warangal-Hanamkonda-Kazipet open defecation-free.

Meanwhile, it’s learnt that Ojha will hold the Grievance Day on Monday.Earlier, the Commissioner met the Urban District Collector Kata Amrapali. Among those who greeted the Commissioner include PRO Mamindla Dasaratham and senior assistant Santhosh.

Ojha worked as Sub-Collector of Vikarabad prior to this posting. She is the second Commissioner since the civic body has become Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation in 2015. Shahid Masood held the post as FAC for little over a month.
