Mahabubabad: Stringent actions would be taken against the officials, who are negligent in discharging their duties and on those, who do not develop professional skills, warned District Collector Dr Preethi Meena. The Collector chaired a review meeting with Mandal Officers and MPDOs to discuss on the construction works of Individual Sanitary Latrines (ISLs) that are under progress under Swachh Bharat Mission, at the Collector Camp Office in Mahabubabad on Monday.
Expressing her ire at the officials for the delay in constructing the ISLs, Meena said the Central government had introduced Swachh Bharat Mission aiming to declare the nation as ODF by October 2, 2018. 32,530 ISLs were allotted to the district, which should be completed at the earliest to declare the district as ODF. But till date only 4,042 ISLs were constructed in the district, she pointed out.
She said very less number of ISLs were constructed in Dornakal, Kesamudram and in Kuravi mandals. Ordering the officials to complete the construction of at least 1,000 ISLs in a month in each mandal on war footing to reach the target as early as possible to declare the district as ODF, the Collector warned the officials of stringent action against those, who fail to reach the target.
The Collector said that Rs 5 lakhs were sanctioned well in advance for every mandal to complete the construction and suggested the MPDOs to take special interest to complete the target by conducting awareness programmes among the people with the coordination of peoples’ representatives. Joint-Collector Damodar Reddy, District Revenue Officer Ganesh and MPDOs were present along with representatives of Swachh Bharath Mission.
