Kazipet: All is set for the Telangana State-level Jawaharlal Nehru National Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition (JNNSMEE)-2017.

The district educational department has made elaborate arrangements for the three-day science exhibition to be inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari at Telangana State Social Welfare Residential School (Boys) at Madikonda near Kazipet on Thursday.

The theme of the science fair is ‘Innovations for Sustainable development’. It is the first State-level science fair being conducted after the formation of Telangana. Nearly 500 exhibits, 1,000 students and 500 guide teachers from 31 districts will be taking part in event.

About 10,000 students and science enthusiasts are expected to visit the science fair. Joint-Collector S Dayanand, state academic monitoring officer Suresh Babu, district educational officer K Narayana Reddy and DPRO DS Jagan have visited the science fair venue on Wednesday and inspected the arrangements.

The students and guide teachers participating in the event have reached the school and registrations completed on Wednesday. From each district, there will be 13 exhibits of which six each by higher primary and high school students and one by teacher.

The district science officer Ch Keshava Rao and the event convener M Umamaheshwar informed that marking the birth anniversary of Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan celebrated as National Mathematics Day on December 22, special events are planned at Regional Science Centre in Hanamkonda.
