Warangal: Startups are the need of the hour and engineering graduates must try to become employment creators instead of becoming employees after completing their studies, suggested speakers at Startup Utsav at KITS-W.

The two-day ‘Startup Utsav’ being celebrated with a tagline of ‘celebrating entrepreneurship in Warangal’ has been kicked off here on Thursday. It is being conducted by computer science and engineering (CSE) department and Entrepreneurship Development Cell of KITS-W.

The event was inaugurated by the founder and CEO of CatFit, Hyderabad, Lt Colonel Rakesh Krishnan, a former Special Forces officer, who headed a National Security Guard (Black Cat) commando unit. Addressing the gathering, he told the students to maintain discipline in their academics and personal life to become entrepreneurs and lead the future world. Events like Startup Utsav helps identifying hidden talents among the students.

The participants should come up with ideas that have business potential, share and nurture them among inter disciplinary engineering students so as to give a concrete shape to their ideas. He expressed pleasure over engineering colleges in Warangal acknowledging the importance of Startups, Krishnan said.
Several startups have been coming up in Telangana and the students should draw inspiration from them, he said while motivating the students by giving live industrial examples to inculcate the entrepreneurship skills.

The College Director Y Manohar asked students to have dedication, commitment and courage to become future entrepreneurs. He wanted the students to make use of the event, share ideas and gain knowledge from fellow students and the speakers.

The Chairman and HoD CSE department Prof P Niranjan Reddy said that future of the world depends on the beautiful thoughts of creative minds. The event is being organised with an objective of spreading entrepreneurship culture in the region.

Nearly 600 students from various colleges in Telangana participating in the event. The College Principal Prof P Venkateswara Rao, faculty coordinators V Shankar and NC Santhosh Kumar, student coordinators N Barghava Patel and B Sai Maneesh Reddy, organising committee members J Mounisha, T Sushanth, K Harish, M Navya, K Sravan, faculty, staff and PRO D Prabhakara Chary took part in the inaugural ceremony.
