For homemaker Sarika Anand, what started as a hobby has made her an entrepreneur. She makes customised attractive porcelain decor items and markets them under her brand ‘Sarika Kreations’. She has recently exhibited her products at the recently concluded Deep Mela.

For Sarika working with clay to create artifacts started as a past time. Today, she runs her store-cum-workshop, which she started in 2018 at Jubilee Hill s. “Since childhood, painting and drawing have been my hobby; I love colours. I do clay painting, designing, etc.

And this led me to explore and experiment with clay. After many trials and mistakes, I finally mastered the art of making customised items that can be used for gifting or to decorate home. I devised my own method of mixing colours to arrive at texture. I use a variety of things like corn starch to mix the clay. It took me 8 years to reach where I am today,” she shares.

“At my store, one can find customised home décor items, kitchen sets, stationery products, gift collections, etc. Customers approach me with their requirements and I customise products accordingly. Soon, I would be customising jewellery and accessories which will becompletely light in weight and beautiful to wear.”

She is quite disciplined in her approach to work and enjoys the patronage of happy customers. “I start my day with my routine as a homemaker and after I am sorted, I begin my work around 1.30 pm and continue till 6 pm. And I work depending on the orders I receive if there are no orders then it is an off-day for me.”

Sarika believes that there is no age barrier for anyone to follow their dreams. “After marriage, I feel that women should not quit their career and continue to pursue their passion.”
