It may be recalled that these students have a number of examination backlogs they haven't been able to clear across semesters. "I was not promoted, as I had been failed repeatedly. I was deliberately put away from remedial classes. So, I am left with no choice rather to join a part-time course in the Osmania University, and finished my senior diploma creditably," Ranjan told The Hans India. He alleged that the EFLU professors, pointing out his caste, asked him to quit the course, because he was not meritorious. With the relay hunger strike, they were firm on some demands. Accordingly, they demand the suspension of the HOD of the German department; action against German Department for not conducting Supplementary Exam for failed students in January 2011, conducting remedial classes to be taken for all backlogs for the students and to implement UGC nornms and regulation. Meanwhile, it was also informed that Anoop Kumar, film director, Dalit activist and founder-member of the Dalit-Advasi students' group- Insight Foundation is visiting the university to institute a fact-finding commission on the various issues of caste discrimination in the University.
