Every family is addicted to television programmes and infotainment provided by channels. Television has turned most families to regular TV viewers. Every age group is attracted to their programmes on TV like cartoons for children, music and movies for youth, fashion, beauty, and entertainment etc for women, sports and entertainment for men and Bhakti channels for old and so on.

Most literate and illiterate parents concede that their infants and kids are exposed to different media sources like radio, TV, cell phones, computers, laptops, new electronic gadgets etc. and discuss how TV is creating behavioural changes in their physical and mental growth. The reason why infants and children are exposed to TV in the present society? Particularly children below 7 years are greatly affected by TV. Watching TV for long time will definitely have strong impact on infants and children’s mental and physical growth.

Children between the age group of 1-5years are spending a major portion of time in front of TV. This will have negative effects on them and will create a time imbalance preventing them to do other activities which help in their overall growth.
House wife Afreen Begum said that ‘If the kids are before the TV they won’t disturb us, we have so much of work in our house just we make them sit infront of the TV and they just sit and keep watching. She even confessed that ‘ when I try to feed my 6- year- old daughter, she won’t allow me to feed her so I put the TV on and then she has her food peacefully’.
