Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) skipper David Warner has shared an update on Kane Williamson’s future with the Orange Army.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) skipper David Warner has shared an update on Kane Williamson's future with the Orange Army.

SRH finished third in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, which recently ended in the UAE after taking place amid the coronavirus pandemic. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly has hinted that the 2021's edition will take place in the April-May window along with the addition of a new franchise.

A mega auction reportedly is set to take place ahead of the IPL 2021 and if that happens, the franchises will have to release the majority of their players and a massive reshuffle could take place.

While Warner and Rashid Khan are expected to be retained considering the duo has been consistent for the side since their debut seasons for Hyderabad, the SRH fans have been worried about New Zealand skipper Williamson's current situation in the SRH camp.

Since the last mega-auctions allowed the teams to retain only two overseas players, the Orange Army fans are speculating that Williamson, who has been their saviour over the years, maybe released.

A couple of fans shot direct questions to SRH captain Warner on Instagram, asking if there are any chances of SRH losing Williamson. To which, the Aussie opener replied, "We will not lose him."

Another fan requested Warner to retain the Kiwi superstar as he is the future of SRH. Responding to this message, Warner said, "We will. Don't worry. Well, hope they do. I want him"

Warner said he wants Williamson as a part of the team, he also clarified that the final decision would be made by the SRH management.

If there will be any mega auction and it commences under the old rules, then SRH will have the Right To Match (RTM) option through which they can have Williamson re-inducted into the side.

Williamson, who was signed by SRH in 2015, has made 53 appearances for Hyderabad over the last five seasons. The 30-year-old, who is arguably the best batsman New Zealand have produced among their current generation players, has scored 1,619 runs at an average of 39.48, including 15 half-centuries, 11 not-outs, with his highest score being 89.
