iOS 13 got released, Apple seems to be endorsing its commitment to India. Apple wants a more significant chunk of the Indian smartphone market. This time Apple made a significant price cut on the iPhone XR and tagged the iPhone 11 with decent pricing. The firm has also added many India-specific features to iOS 13.

Please find the brief list of the features added to iOS 13

1. Siri gets a new voice

With iOS 13, Siri has a unique Indian English voice. This comes in the standard male and female versions, and you could choose whichever you want. This is the only new Siri voice. The voice which was present in iOS 12, are: American, Australian, British, Irish, and South African.

How to change: Go to Settings > Siri & Search > Siri Voice.

2. No size limit for an app download for mobile data

Till now on mobile data, the app downloads size was limited to 100 MB. Apps above that limit couldn't be download on mobile data. Recently, Apple had raised that limit to 200MB. Now with iOS 13, this limit has been obliterated.

How to modify: Go to Settings > iTunes & App Stores > App Downloads and then select Always Allow.

3. Typing predictions for Hindi

We used the Devanagari (Hindi) keyboard very rarely on iOS 12 because it didn't have typing predictions. We always preferred English to Hindi transliteration keyboard. With iOS 13 things will change as we now have typing predictions for the Devanagari keyboard as well.

How to change: Go to Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards and tap Add New Keyboard. Now choose Hindi.

4. A new bilingual Hindi (Latin) keyboard

If you like typing Hindi messages in the Roman (English) script, this keyboard is perfect for you. The Hinglish keyboard on iOS 12 has been replaced with Hindi (Latin) on iOS 13. You might want to use this because the Hindi (Latin) keyboard has typing predictions which makes it easier to type.

How to enable: Go to Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards and tap Add New Keyboard. Then select Hindi (Latin).

5. More Indian language keyboards

iOS 13 has brought 15 new Indian language keyboards, and it will support all of India's 22 official languages. The new languages include Assamese, Bodo, Dogri, Kashmiri (Arabic, Devanagari), Konkani (Devanagari), Manipuri (Bangla, Meetei Mayek), Maithili, Nepali, Sanskrit, Santali (Devanagari, Ol Chiki), and Sindhi (Devanagari, Arabic).

How to check out: Go to Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards and click Add New Keyboard.

6. Improved language setup

When you upgrade your iOS device to iOS 13 or when you set up a new iOS 13 device; you'll find an option to add the languages you speak to the keyboard, dictation languages, and preferred languages.

7. New Indian language system and document fonts

iOS 13 gets four new system fonts for Gujarati, Gurmukhi, Kannada, and Odia. It has also added 30 new document fonts for languages like Assamese, Bangla, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Odia, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

8. Video streaming apps to optimise download times

Apple claims that with iOS 13, apps such as Hotstar and Netflix can streamline when to download the shows and movies you prefer to watch. Netflix has a Smart Downloads feature that downloads new shows episodes that you're watching. With iOS 13, these apps can avoid downloading videos when the mobile data network is blocked and line-up it when there is a better network.
