A week after the announcement of the free IPL games, both Tata Sky and Airtel Digital has withdrawn this offer. This means that the DTH users of these two DTH operators can no longer see the IPL matches for free.

Is there any other option?

Tata Sky: Sorry, No More Free IPL Matches

In the month of May, Tata Sky announced that cricket lovers can now watch all IPL matches for free on their network. The promotional scheme was widely disseminated through SMS and informed all users that, between March 23 and May 19, their customers can see IPL 2019 without paying anything additional.

This offer was valid for these channels: Star Sports 1 Hindi, Star Sports 1 Tamil, Star Sports 1 Telugu, Star Sports 1 Kannada and Start Sports 1 Bangla.

The last day of IPL 2019 is May 19

However, a week after the launch of this offer, Tata Sky has reported that the offer has been withdrawn. The free IPL 2019 scheme was only until March 30, and after that, users will have to pay for the channels mentioned above.

In case these channels are already added and are not part of any package, then the charges will be applied in the à la carte mode, that is, Rs 19 plus taxes for all channels except the Tamil language, which is charged to Rs 17 plus taxes.

In a tweet, Tata Sky clarified: "This was a limited period promotional offer, which expired on March 29, 2019."

Airtel Digital: Free IPL Offer Withdrawn

With the exception of Tata Sky, Airtel Digital was the only DTH provider that offered free access to all IPL 2019 games, and the dates were also the same: from March 23 to May 19.

Airtel's offer also covered these channels: Star Sports 1 Hindi, Star Sports 1 Tamil, Star Sports 1 Telugu, Star Sports 1 Kannada and Start Sports 1 Bangla.

But like Tata Sky, Airtel also closed this offer on March 30.

Therefore, users who opted for free access of IPL matches on these channels must pay for it now. In case these channels are added, and that they are not part of any package, charges of Rs 19 plus taxes will be charged for these channels. (Except the Tamil language, whose charge is Rs 17 plus taxes).

Alternatives for Cricket Lovers

If you are a Tata Sky user, then there is some good news.

Recently, Tata Sky reduced the price of its plans focused on Cricket by 13%, and this means that users can now opt for cheaper options.

The package of channels in English of Star Sports 1, whose real price was Rs 228, now has been discounted for Rs 202; while the Star Sports 1 Hindi channels are now available for Rs 201.

These discounted rates only apply when users choose 1-year validity plans.
