Kukatpally: As part of its technical fest 'Quest', Computer Science department of JNTUH held a 24-hour hackathon on 'Open Theme' on March 9 and 10. As many as 38 teams were shortlisted to participate in the hackathon from 60 teams representing various colleges in Telangana State. Representatives of SOAL, a company from T-HUB and experts from noted IT companies such as Apple, Hexagon and HSBC supervised the competition.

'Team Vain' from Mallareddy Engineering College stood first in the competition, followed by teams from Gokaraju Rangaraju Institute of Engineering stood in second and third places. The winners would be presented with cash rewards and certificates by the college principal Dr E Saibaba Reddy at a presentation ceremony during Quest technical fest to be held on March 14. The winner would get Rs 50,000 cash prize.

Speaking on the occasion, Professor R Sridevi said that the solutions offered by the winners would be beneficial to the nation as well as the State. The winner's presentation 'Smart Alert System for Washroom Management" would help the State and nation in maintaining cleanliness in this era of Swachhata, she said. Quest coordinator K Neeraja, assistant professor, said that JNTUH has always been in forefront in offering technical solutions necessary for the development of society.
