As the nomination withdrawal for the first phase of Parishad polls came to an end on Sunday, a total of 344 candidates are in fray for the polls to be held in seven mandals on May 6.

Kothagudem: As the nomination withdrawal for the first phase of Parishad polls came to an end on Sunday, a total of 344 candidates are in fray for the polls to be held in seven mandals on May 6.

According to officials, the polls would be held for seven ZPTCs posts and 71 MPTC posts. Of the seven mandals, the polls for the Burgumpahad MPTC elections would not be conducted as the MPTCs concerned are yet to complete their term.

Meanwhile, after the nomination withdrawal programme, 43 members are contesting the ZPTC posts and 303 members contesting the MPTC posts in the district. Further, MPTCs of Koyagudem in Tekulapally mandal and Aswapuram-1 in Aswapuram mandal have been elected unanimously.

Meanwhile, the second phase nomination filling last date came to end in the eight mandals in the district. The eight mandals in the district received a total of 379 nominations. The withdrawal of the nominations process is going on in the eight mandals of Karakagudem, Annapureddypally, Chandrugonda, Manuguru, Pinapaka, Dhammapet, Aswaraopet and Julurupadu said the officials.
