A 93-year-old woman from Hyderabad recovers from coronavirus but family refuse to take her home

Hyderabad: A 93-year-old woman from Hyderabad fought against coronavirus and recovered completely from the infection. However, she was stuck in the Gandhi Hospital after her family refused to take her home until she tests negative in another round of tests.

Although the hospital authorities declared her medically fit to go back home, her family demanded to carry out another round of tests and guarantee that she is stable.

The elderly woman has been admitted to the hospital along with her son and two grandchildren but her son succumbed to the disease last week. And her grandchildren are under home quarantine and are stable.

Initially, the Gandhi Hospital authorities on Monday asked the family to take her home and have given day time. However, upon the woman's granddaughter request who resides in US, the hospital authorities agreed to look after her.

Meanwhile, the health officials in the state do not conduct tests on recovered patients and advise them to be in quarantine after their discharge from the hospital. However, kin of many patients is reluctant to take the patients back home until they negative in the final report.
