Adilabad: Task Porce sleuths seized spurious BT 3 cotton seeds and arrested two persons in Adilabad on Monday.

Addressing the media persons, Superintendent of Police Vishnu S Warrier said special the Task Force along with agriculture officer, acting on a tip off, raided a house of Shaik Meraj, Mahamood Mustafa in Ramnagar colony in Adilabad town and found 785 bags of banned BT 3 cotton seeds worth Rs.5.5 lakh.

The accused Meraj and Mahamood purchased the spurious cotton seeds from one Kalunath, resident of Nimach villageof Madhya Pradesh, to sell the same to innocent farmers.

He also wanted the farmers not to purchase the spurious cotton seeds from others who are ready to give cotton seed at a lower price than the market rate. And serous actions will be taken on those who sell spurious cotton seeds to innocent farmers, he warned.

DSP Venkateshwar Rao, Rural Inspector Purushotham Chari, CCS Inspector Chandramouli, Mavala SI Ramesh Kumar, Task Force police Sirajoddin Khan, Ramesh Kumar, Prem Sing, Mangal Sing, MA Kareem, Rahath, Jagan Sing, hanumanth Rao and others were present.
