AIMIM becomes the second largest party in the assembly after TRS

After the 12 Congress MLAs merged CLP into TRSLP, Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM party emerged as the second largest party in the assembly with seven MLAs.

It is learned that the TRS government likely to request the speaker Pocharam to remove Congress leader Bhatti Vikramarka from the Leader of Opposition (LoP) position.

A political party should possess 10 per cent of the total assembly seats to emerge as the main opposition party and also have a party leader holding the Leader of Opposition position.

This is the second time for the Congress party to lose its opposition party status. For the first time, the party lost its status in 1994 when it secured only 26 seats of the 294 assembly seats in united Andhra Pradesh.
