Vexed with official apathy, a differently-abled farmer attempted suicide at Chintakunta Ramaiahpally village under Chityala mandal in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district on Friday.

Vanga Rayakomuru, who sustained burns on his chest and hands, has been admitted to MGM Hospital and his condition is said to be stable.
Rayakomuru owns two acres and 25 guntas of land under survey number 225/b and applied for his land to be recorded under the State government's land record updation programme (LRUP). Against this backdrop, revenue officials gave him a passbook for 20 guntas of land under survey number 225/a while recording his land on some other person's name. Since then, he has been running from pillar to post to get it rectified. Despite his repeated appeals, the revenue officials turned a blind eye to correct it.
The farmer had even approached the RDO to no avail. Dejected by this, Rayakomuru had attempted suicide, according to Sarpanch M Madhuvamshi Krishna. The Sarpanch demanded the government to take appropriate action against the officials.
