Hyderabad: State BJP has sought the intervention of President Ramnath Kovind to render justice to the 27 intermediate students who had committed suicides in Telangana in the aftermath of the intermediate results fiasco.

A BJP delegation led by party State president K Laxman, Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy, met the President on Monday at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi and submitted a representation to him.

A memorandum submitted to President narrated at length the events from the conduct of the intermediate examinations by the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) and the lapses that took place in the process.

Despite the series of incidents of students ending their lives, there was no word from the State government to assure parents and students that measures would be taken to prevent recurrence of the fiasco, they said.

Explaining how a government-appointed committee had exposed the shortcoming on the part of the TSBIE and the Globarena Technologies in the entire issue, the BJP leaders said, "What is baffling to the civil society is the utter indifference of the State government towards the bungling of results and towards loss of lives of innocent children.

such an incident is perhaps unprecedented in the history of India," they pointed out. The delegation said besides large-scale discrepancies in the mark memos the mark sheets issued by the TSBIE showed absent, even when the students had taken the examinations.

Similarly, there were complaints related to erratic evaluation, the processing of the results etc. The delegation alleged that

efforts are being made to shield those responsible for the irregularities took place in the entire episode.

They requested the President to instruct the Telangana government to initiate appropriate proceedings against "The Secretary, Board of Intermediate Education and the State Minister of Education for their insensitive and callous remarks which had aggravated the emotional trauma of the students and the parents."

MLA T Raja Sing, BJP national general secretary P Muralidhar Rao, State party in charge P K Krishna Das, BJP National Executive Committee member N Indrasena Reddy and others were among those who called on the president.
