Yalal: Despite continuous campaign, corporal punishments in the government schools are going unabated. A fifth standard student was beaten up for not excelling in studies. According to the family members of the victim, Chandu has been studying Class V at the Vishwanathapuram government primary school.
As he was not good at studies and also for being naughty, a teacher beat him up on his legs with a stick on Thursday. Next morning, the boy's father observed the scars while the boy was taking bath and learnt about the incident.
Family members and villagers later went to the school Headmaster and questioned about it. The HM held discussions with both sides and brought the issue to compromise. When the media asked about the incident, the HM said appropriate action would be taken against the teacher.
