Congress complains to Governor over increasing crime incidents in TS
Leader of Congress in the Assembly Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Saturday alleged that crime rate has been increasing in the State, particularly the atrocities on the women were on the rise.
Hyderabad: Leader of Congress in the Assembly Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Saturday alleged that crime rate has been increasing in the State, particularly the atrocities on the women were on the rise.
He met Governor Tamilisai Soundrarajan along with other leaders and submitted a memorandum to her to safeguard the law and order situation in the State and to control the sale of liquor.
The team of Congress leaders which met the Governor includes MP A Revanth Reddy, MLAs T Jagga Reddy, Seethakka, D Sridhar Babu, senior leader Shabbir Ali, PCC working president Kusuma Kumar, former MP Anjan Kumar Yadav, Telangana Women Congress president Nerella Sarada and PCC spokesperson Indira Shobhan.
However, party senior leaders V Hanumantha Rao and Ponnala Laxmaiah have expressed their anger over not including their names in the delegation that met the Governor. They left the Raj Bhavan without meeting the Governor as they have been informed that their names were not in the list.
During their meeting with the Governor the Congress leaders have been asked by the Governor about the belt shops. She wanted to know what they are meant. She has promised to look into the issue.
Speaking to the media, after meeting the Governor, Vikramarka said that the police has been used for the works of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
He said that rampant sale of liquor was the main reason for the rise in the crimes. He said that the brutal rape and murder of Disha, Lakshmi, Manasa and few girls in Hajipur have stunned the entire nation and brought shame to the state.
The police have failed in controlling Law and Order. The government has put focus on rising the income than on ensuring the safety and security of the people, particularly the women. The state government is encouraging the permit rooms and belt shops.
Liquor shops are located in the residential areas and on the main roads and even on the highways which is against the Supreme Court's directions. He requested the Governor to examine the issues and to take corrective and remedial measures.
