Telangana: Deputy mayor of Karimnagar Challa Swaroopa Rani and her two sons tested positive for the coronavirus, two days after her husband admitted to hospital with the virus infection.

Swaroopa Rani's husband Harishankar is undergoing treatment at Yashoda Hospital in Hyderabad. The mayor and her sons were also shifted to the same hospital. As many as 33 contacts of Harishankar have been traced most of them participated in official programmes.

BC Welfare Minister Gangula Kamalakar, Mayor Y Sunil Rao, MLC Naradasu Laxman Rao and some IAS officers were among the primary contacts who took part in the Haritha Haram programme with Harishankar. All the contacts of the patient have declared self-isolation for a week.

On Tuesday, the state reported 945 new cases that include 869 from GHMC area, 29 from Rangareddy, 13 from Medchal, 21 from Sangareddy, four from Nirmal, two cases each from Karimnagar and Mahbubnagar, one case each from Khammam, Siddipet, Vikarabad and Nizamabad.
