Hyderabad: Sindhu Sharma's protest reached a logical conclusion on Monday after the child line officials handed over her 18-month-old child Srividya to her on Sunday.

As the officials asked both the parties to attend a counselling session on Monday, Sindhu and her husband Vashista along with their elder daughter Rishitha came to the Child line Centre in Saifabad.

Even after the counselling, the couple did not come to a conclusion over the custody of Rishitha.

Sindhu demanded that her elder daughter be handed over to her and Vashista was against handling Rishitha to his mother.

The couple got into a heated argument at the centre and she continued her protest at the centre along with the support of women organisations.

Later, the representatives of Balala Hakkula Sangham (BHS) took the issue to the Additional CP crimes and SIT, Shikha Goel and urged her for justice.

She ordered Additional DCP, CCS G Jogaiah to look into the matter. Later, in the presence of Sindhu's legal advisor, Sindhu was counselled following which she agreed.

Speaking to the media, Achyuta Rao, Honorary President, Balala Hakkula Sangham said according to the constitution, children below the age of 5 years should live with their mother only when disputes arise between a wife and husband.

So due to some technical problems and since the Chairman of Child Welfare Committee (CWC) is out of station on some other work, and taking into consideration all these aspects, there are possibilities that Rishitha be handed over to her mother on Tuesday within 5 pm.

Till that time the child will be in the protection of police. After recording the statements and observing the age proof of the child, the child welfare committee will take a decision.

Answering a question, he said Sindhu and her legal advisor are satisfied with the proceedings and the decision.

Meanwhile the women organisations expressed their happiness over the justice done to Sindhu.
