Hyderabad: The row between two shopkeepers running scrap and ice cream units in AS Rao Nagar allegedly resulted in a fire accident in the wee hours of Friday.
The incident resulted in the property loss of about Rs 1 crore. According to locals, brothers Balaraju and Ashok owned a site of 800 square yards.
Ashok was given 400 square yards as a gift by his mother. Over the remaining land, two purchasers were having regular clashes with Balaraju. Flames have erupted at around 2 am in the scrap shop forcing Vishal Yadav, who was sleeping, to flee fearing for life.
He was caught by one owner Ramesh Babu accusing him of setting fire to the premises. However, Vishal managed to escape. The fire spread to adjacent three flats in Vashishta Enclave, resulting in the loss of household goods.
Residents of the flats were forced to remain on the road. The fire services personnel rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control.
Both the shopkeepers lodged complaints with the police. The Kukatpally cops registered a case.
