Gandhi & Shastri birth anniversary celebrated
The 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and 115th Jayanti of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri was grandly celebrated in different areas of the city.
Shalibanda: The 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and 115th Jayanti of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri was grandly celebrated in different areas of the city. Residents of Gowlipura, Fatehdarwaza and Chandrayangutta garlanded the statues and portraits of two great souls that the nation has produced, on Wednesday.
On the occasion, State Youth Congress Spokesperson SP Kranthi Kumar garlanded the statue of Gandhi and also garlanded portrait of LB Shastri and paid floral tributes. Later, along with Freedom fighter Writpal, senior citizens, S Narsing Rao and Hari Krishna were felicitated for their services in the locality.
Later, Kranthi Kumar took pledge, along with others, to follow the path laid by Mahatma and to uphold the sincerity like Shastri and play active role in locality's development, fight against communal forces and to maintain national integration and unity.
Seniors Prutviraj, S Narsing Rao, youth congress activists G Pranith, B Karthik Chary, C Nithin, Vivek Chary, Meghanath, Nikanth, Venu and others participated in the programme.
