Hanamkonda: ABVP demands basic amenities in schools

Hanamkonda: The corporate and private establishments have complete sway over the education in the State, the ABVP workers, who staged a demonstration in front of District Education Office here on Friday, said. It may be mentioned here that ABVP staged demonstrations as part of its State-wide school bandh call demanding formation of fee regulatory committees,
basic amenities in government schools and action against erring educational institutions.
"Even though the government trumpets that it would change the face of State-run schools, majority of them are plagued by lack of basic amenities such as toilets and infrastructure. As a result, parents were either opting to send their wards to private schools or stopping their education," ABVP national secretariat member Naredla Praveen Reddy said.
He said that with the government turning a blind eye to the problems faced by the students in State-run schools, the private players are reaping the harvest by slapping exorbitant fee. He demanded an answer from the government for its inaction against those private players who have been hoodwinking the people by tagging international, Olympiad, techno etc to their institutions' names.
"Besides taking stringent action against private institutions flouting norms, the state government should fill all vacant teachers, DEO, MEO and headmaster posts, ABVP state working committee member Punnam Venu said.
Where has gone TRS government's KG to PG free education scheme? Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who vowed to close the corporate colleges in Telangana, is now tight-lipped about it, he said, questioning the stoic silence maintained by him.
He wondered what Minister G Jagadeeshwar Reddy, who holds the portfolio of education was doing, while the private institutions are ruling the roost. With no reviews and planning, the government totally destructed the education system in the State, Venu said.
Earlier, the protestors took out a bike rally from Naim Nagar to DEO office. Sravan, Charan, Rohith and Pasha were among others present.
