Hyderabad: Three teenage students Academia Sports Village, Hyderabad Polo Riding Club of Aziznagar. adopted Galapagos Giant Tortoise, the oldest inhabitant of the zoo. The Academia Sports Village students Ananya, Tia and Priya adopted the Galapagos Giant Tortoise for a period of one year by handing over Rs 30,000 to N Kshitija, curator, Nehru Zoological Park, in the presence of Chaitania R Kumar, president of HPRC. The 8th standard students used to sell bio-products like plants, mud pots etc, from which they earned a good profit and decided to adopt an animal in the zoo.

Kshitija welcomed the teenagers and congratulated them for the initiative and showing interest in adopting the senior animal in the zoo. The gesture shown by the three girls is remarkable, she said. Later, they went to tortoise enclosure and expressed happiness with the maintenance and the lush green environment created for the animals.
