Hyderabad: 534 Covid warriors fall prey to virus
Among them are health workers, cops and journalists
Hyderabad: Over 534 people who were on Covid-19 duties in Telangana were infected with the virus so far and a majority of them have recovered.
The number includes government employees from various departments as well as private health workers and press reporters.
Of the total figure, 258 are frontline healthcare workers doing Covid duties. Also, 37 healthcare professionals and workers including doctors, nurses and other medical staff working in private healthcare providers were also found infected.
As many as 184 cops tested positive and some of them were infected as early as May while on lockdown duties. 53 reporters from print and electronic media working in Hyderabad were also infected so are two employees from GHMC.
Health Minister Eatala Rajender said that among these only one nurse from Chest Hospital has died. Two or three people, who had co-morbidity issues died, he pointed out.
