Hyderabad: As soon as the DGP office announced release of the vehicles seized during the lockdown, owners rushed to respective police stations to get their vehicle back. As scores of people thronged police stations, there chaos at many many places. People had to wait for hours in the hot sun at almost every police station in the city.

Vinod Kumar, a software engineer, whose bike was seized at Malkajgiri police station, was overwhelmed to receive the news about vehicles being released, but little did he realise that he had to wait for almost 6 hours to get his bike freed from the police station. He noted, "I went to the PS around 11am and was shocked to see almost 50 persons standing in queue to get their vehicles released. Finally I got to step inside the PS but was shocked to note that only one constable was assigned the task of releasing vehicles.

The department could have made better arrangements to handle the rush." A constable deputed at Nampally police station on condition of anonymity said, "It was utter chaos as more than 300 people thronged the police station to get their vehicles released and we were able to release only a few. Others were informed to come tomorrow and it happened only because public arrived at one go as soon as they were informed that their vehicles would be released."

An officer from Begum Bazar PS added, "Though it was informed that public should carry their documents in order to get their vehicles released, in most of the cases, people did not bring any documents. They simply walked in and insisted on getting hold of their vehicles, by just informing us of the numbers. But it does not happen that way. "
