Hyderabad: Civic bodies to act tough on waste segregation
Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao has stated that his government would soon give instructions to municipalities to refuse garbage if people of a locality or household do not segregate dry and wet garbage.

He stressed the need for citizens to segregate the waste so that sanitary workers can process it accordingly.
He took the example of Sircilla Municipality and pointed out that authorities are earning a considerable amount of money by separating dry and wet waste.
On day two of the Pattana Pragathi programme, KTR visited Devarakonda and Kalwakurthy towns and participated in various events. KTR laid the foundation stone for various development works in Devarakonda town.
These included construction of underground drainage network, STP, roads and a park at a cost of Rs. 48.2 crore. He went on a padayatra and inspected sanitation and drinking water supply lines, greenery and other facilities in Devarakonda town.
Later, addressing a gathering in Devarakonda town, Rao said that development activities should be taken up in all wards and towns and there is no need to differentiate between wards won by the ruling party or opposition. "There are no elections for the next four years.
All we have to do now is to work hard to find a permanent place in the hearts of the people," he said. The Minister instructed the councillors, and ward committee members to identify problems and start addressing them right away.
He asked people to cooperate with the municipal authorities in keeping the towns clean.
The Minister inaugurated a 32/11 KV Sub-station in Kalwakurthy and addressed the councillors, ward members, ward officers and ward committee members.
