Kapra: Residents of Siva Sai Nagar in Cherlapally division took a new initiative to keep their colony clean and tidy. Locals in the division started cleaning the colony on Sundays instead of enjoying weekly holiday. They also focussed on the civic problems in the division and started sorting them out.

Siva Sai Nagar colony has been spread across 12 streets with 550 families living in 200 houses. The approximate population of the colony is more than 2000. Siva Sai Temple was also located in the colony surroundings with a pleasant atmosphere. After the continuous efforts of the colony members, Siva Sai Nagar colony was also elected for Swachh Sarvekshan.

"We are taking care on segregating dry and wet wastes. Plastic usage is also reduced in the colony surroundings," said colony welfare association president Padma Rao. "Palm tree near D-mart and other trees near Sai Mithra turning which became the major cause of accidents in the area were also removed. Electric poles were also replaced at the corners from the centre of the road with the help of the concerned department."

"MLA Bethi Subhash Reddy, corporator Pavani Reddy, Golluri Anjayya, former corporator Singireddy Dhansal Reddy and other leaders participated in the rally held in the division. They explained about the segregating dry and wet wastes, stopping open urinals and other anti-civic issues. Recently CC roads and UGD works were finished with the funds released by Mayor Bonthu Rammohan through GHMC," said Padma Rao.

He added, "The wastes on two sides of the road near Pochamma temple were removed by the colony residents. Colony resident's participation for keeping the colony clean is very appreciable. This change should come in every colony for experiencing clean Hyderabad."
