Hyderabad: Shathavadhaan by young Jain Munis on March 22

What is Shathavadhaan?

The ultimate capability of recalling and reciting 100 different things or information shown or told by the audience in all possible orders (forward, reverse and random) is Shathavadhan. The literary meaning is derived from the words Shatha + avadhan, which means "paying attention at 100 things at the same time", it is the ultimate form of multitasking.

A normal human being can typically recall 3 to 4 things at a time and an extraordinarily brilliant person can recall 10-15 things. But our ancient Indian Spirituality mentions that any person with an awakened soul has the capacity to achieve unlimited knowledge, thinking power and memory.

Hyderabad: In the age, where the younger generation is obsessed to electronic gadgets and social media, these 11-year-old twins who turned themselves into Jain monks has not only memorized 7,000 shlokas from Agamas (sacred texts) but also verses from Bible, Quran, Bhagavad-Gita, Guru Granth Sahib and religious books.

The twin Jain Balamunis Namichandrasagar Maharaj Saheb and Nemichandrasagar Maharaj Saheb who also well-versed in 10 different languages and come from a family of diamond merchants in Suraj, Gujarat, were named Dhruv-Dhairya. This all started around 4 years back when they were training under their guru Abhinandan Chandrasagar Maharaj Saheb. After their 2 years of training in the age of 9 they turned into Balamunis. With amazing memory power, they were not only able to memorize whatever text they came across, but also can provide discourse in 10 different languages.

Speaking to The Hans India, Abhinandan said that this Balamunis have reached the pinnacle of Shathavadhaan stage with indomitable will- power, meditation, yoga, passion, hard work, concentration, focus and blessings their gurus. These munis will lead by example to show how moral power can shape a personality as compared to brawn strength or monetary power to present day youth, he added. These monks have studied just first standard at School in Gujarati, they have excellent memory power and along with showcasing 'Shathavadhan' abilities, they had delivered motivational speeches involving students in 10 different languages such as Sanskrit, Prakrit, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Kannada and Urdu.

"They also motivated students in Prakrit Language by articulating the verses of Jain Agamas, Sanskrit from Shrimad Bhagavad-Gita, Urdu from Quran, English from Bible, Punjabi from Guru Granth Sahib and Kannada from Vachanamruta. Their first progamme was in Bangalore in 2018 in languages like Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi and Marwadi. They also held programme in states like Surat, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune, Karnataka etc.", said Abhinandan.

Shathavadhaan event

In this context, a Shathavadhaan programme is being organised in Hyderabad at Classic Garden Balamrai Secunderabad on March 22, where all religious people are invited and religious head will also present, said Abhinandan Chandrasagar Maharaj Saheb. He said that they came from Hubli Karnataka on foot within a duration of 2 months and the twins have covered 5,000 km on foot, after they started from Gujarat. In this programme around 8-10 Islamic scholars, Sikh Gurus, Christian religious heads and other prominent personalities will be participating in programme.

Abhinandan Chandra Sagar said that since the novel Coronavirus has raised its head in India the number of guests for this programme was limited to 500 persons.

The programme will start with all religious prayers for 30 minutes seeking gods blessing to remain safe from the virus and then a meditation will be done and later a Question and Answer session programme will be conducted.

During this programme they will also demonstrate as to who to answer 100 random queries or question, given the ability to retain any 100 random words/ things they come across by the assemblage. "They have the ability to recollect and answer those 100 queries in order, either forward or reverse or in random. It can also be said that this practice of Balashatavadhan is a form of spiritual awakening. This miracle power is achieved/awakened through meditation, concentration and intense practice. In the modern parlance, it's surprising to note whether this is human mind or a Memory Card", he explained.
