Hyderabad: Vijayasanthi to stage comeback in politics
Actress-turned-politico expects assignments from Congress party to work for the people of the State
Hyderabad: Film star turned politician Vijayasanthi is eager to play a key role in the party activities and she is expecting assignments from the PCC to work for the people of the State.
Vijayasanthi, who has acted in a blockbuster movie recently, is getting ready to play important role in the State politics bringing the curtains down on the speculations that she may pursue her film career again.
In a statement on Wednesday she said that she has completed six years in the Congress on February 25. She said that there was a need to be aggressive in the fights on behalf of the people as she believes in constructive struggles.
She said that her programmes being taken up on behalf of the people in the past have been changed or cancelled for reasons unknown. She said that the occasion of entering the seventh year in Congress has given an opportunity to review her role in the politics and in the party.
The statement clearly indicated that she wants to be active in the State politics again and wants to be given some assignments to go to the people. She conveyed her opinions to the party leaders with the statement.
Vijayasanthi has been keeping herself away from the State politics after the Parliament general elections in May, 2019. She was given the chairperson post of Campaign Committee of the party in those polls.
After the defeat of the party in the country and modest performance of it in the State, she has remained away from the state politics. She has not attended any programme being organised by the party.
Some speculations have been made on her political career and it has been rumoured that she may go back to Bharatiya Janata Party. However, she remained silent on them.
As she has accepted a role in a big movie, it is also speculated that she was ready to go back to the movie world. The success of the movie has given support to these speculations.
But the superwoman star has brought the curtains down on these speculations and made it clear that she was ready to make come back in the State politics. The recent statement and another one a month ago have indicated her strong intentions to be part of active politics.
According to party sources the star politician is expecting a post in the PCC or in the AICC with which she can take up individual campaign on behalf of the party. As the PCC and AICC are scheduled to be revamped soon, she is expecting a better position in the party organisation.
