It's a sea of humanity at Medaram

Medaram: Devotees in large numbers descended on Medaram, the abode of Sammakka Saralamma jatara, on the first day of the four-day carnival.

The jatara commences with the tribal priests taking out the presiding deity - Saralamma – in the form of vermillion in a kumkum bharani (casket) and turmeric in a procession to Medaram altars from Kannepally, two kilometers from Medaram.

The administration has made elaborate arrangements for the biennial fiesta which is expected to draw more than one crore devotees.
