Karimnagar: Theerthala Raj Kumar, Zonal Secretary of Andhra Bank Officers Federation, said that around 10 lakh bank employees are on a two-day strike demanding the government wage revision settlement at 20% hike on pay slip components with adequate loading and wage revision, which is pending since November 2017. He further said that Indian Banks Association (IBA) has offered 12.5% hike even when the Central government had cleared a hike of 15% to the bank employees.

The employees of various banks participated in the strike in Karimnagar city on Friday following the strike call given by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) on Friday and Saturday (January 31 and February 1).

Raj Kumar said the strike is also done for the suspension of new pension system and introducing family pension along with regularization of workload for the bank officials. If the government do not fulfil their demands, the bank employees will again go on strike on March 11, 12 and 13 and on April 1, he warned.

Andhra Bank Award Employees Union Zonal Secretary Sriram Bhadraiah and the staff members of Andhra Bank Damodar, Vamshi Krishna, Venkatesh, Shankar, Nikhil, Rakesh, Hanumanthu, Abhishek, Sneha, Hari Krishna and about 300 members of various banks employees participated in the strike across the district.
